About Us
Student-to-Student Peer Counseling is a group of student counselors providing free, one-on-one, confidential, walk-in services to UC Berkeley students. Our student-initiated and student-run group was established in 1967 to offer a unique service to the UC Berkeley community. As peer counselors, we provide a supportive atmosphere where students can openly talk about their feelings. We want to help you to develop your own solutions to problems or uncertainties. Additionally, we provide up-to-date, extensive referrals for students seeking professional or specialized help. Please note that all of our services are completely free and confidential. However, we are not professional counselors, which allows us to communicate with students as peers. We feel that people can help others through supportive interactions. Thus, our counseling model is uniquely designed to empower you. All peer counselors are extensively trained to cover a broad spectrum of topics, ranging anywhere from stress to suicidal thoughts. We are here to offer nonjudgmental, empathetic ears for whatever you’re going through.
