SSPC is a student-initiated service group. Therefore, each semester SSPC holds interviews for new counselors. We highly recommend that students interested in joining SSPC enroll in Psychology 98/198 the prior semester. Due to our training schedule, we only admit new counselors at the begninning of the semester. We hold information sessions and interviews during the second week of classes. Our interview process consists of two mock-counseling sessions with current SSPC counselors. During the interview, one counselor will take notes on your rapport and responses in a mock session. Our main focus is the improvement between the two dyads. Bottom line, you do not have to be a counseling wizard. Ultimately, selection of new counselors is done by the entire group, all of whom are given the chance to review your strengths. If you are interested in joining SSPC, make sure to stop by our office in 318 Eshleman during the first week of the semester.
Info sessions and interviews for Spring 2008 have already been conducted. Please try back next semester, or consider joining the SSPC DeCal, which is run by fully trained SSPC facilitators every semester!
